Hi I’m Tinks – IMHA Survivor

Thank you all so much for loving me! My mommy wanted me to share more about me and why she helped me start this page. You see, I almost died when I was only 5 years old, and I’m a healthy and happy big boy at 9 now! For some reason, my immune system turned on me and tried to kill my red blood cells and I got very very weak and lost 2 pounds, and I’m only 7 pounds anyway! I’m so glad my mommy and daddy were on top of things and noticed I wasn’t doing well even before I did!

My vet figured out what I had, but didn’t exactly know the best way to treat my disease and I was fading very very fast 🙁 My parents fought for more help to save my life and didn’t take no for an answer, because they love me so much and didn’t want me to die without giving a chance to fight (I LOVE THEM!! ♥ ♥ ♥ ). They found out just in time to give me a chance to fight this disease that there was an emergency and specialty hospital in our town that was for pets!

They got me to WestVet Animal Emergency & Specialty Center when I was only moments away from my death. I had to have 7 blood transfusions and lots and lots of medicines to try and make me feel better and thank goodness there are highly specialized and trained veterinary internists out there that know what’s up with this awful disease. I LOVE my internist, Dr. Victoria Ochoa, she’s soooo sweeeet & smart!! So that’s a little bit about me, my mommy remembers the details more than I do, but I knew I was in good hands and could feel the love from my parents, and I wasn’t in any pain, just was weak from lack of oxygen and then I’d get more blood and perk up.

My mommy and daddy fought for me to live because they love me sooo much and didn’t take no for an answer! I wanted to let all of you know about this so you could know more too about the options that are out there now in veterinary care, should your little adopted kids get sick ever. My mommy & I started this website so we can help you be your pet’s advocate too! And thank you for loving me! ♥ ♥ ♥ I love you too!!
