Betta Fish Tricks

My roommates and I are considering purchasing a betta fish when we move in this August. While looking up information about betta fish, I saw you can teach them tricks. Apparently you can teach them to jump up to get their food or to swim through a hoop by putting food on the other side of it. I’ve had a betta fish before, but I never tried to teach it tricks. I was wondering if anyone here has ever successfully taught a betta fish tricks and, if so, how much time and persistence it takes.
