I know a lot of people think this is a bad thing but it’s no worse than spanking a dog. You can control the level of the shock. I only had to use the shock one time when I got it. I got him on the lowest level. My dog kept chasing cars that went by our house and I shocked him once and that was it. Now I use the warning button and he knows what’s comes next. It worked great for me. Now with just the warning button he stops on demand. No more jumping on visitors cars, chasing cars, garbage trucks, delivery vehicles, etc… then people out there are going to say, what about lease laws. I live out of town on 6 acres so I don’t have to have him on a lease. He loves his freedom and now he can roam safely because he knows where not to go. Tell me what you think?

I have friends that train their hunting dogs using training collars (Sport Dog brand). They swear by them! In your case you were def. wanting to keep your dogs safety in mind so reminding him with a beep or small shocked controlled him. I see no problem in them as long as they are used in a responsible and efficient way. IMO.

…I just can’t get behind this as a proper training tool, even if used sparingly. I hate the thought of an animal in pain, and while I can understand that sometimes situations are dire and you might be at your wits end, I think there are always alternative ways to get through to an animal. That said, I’m sincerely glad it worked for you so well and that your dog is now safe. That’s the most important thing.
