The Boston Terrier is a shorthaired breed with a dense and compact build. The Boston Terrier is a very loyal breed and can be very in tune with their owner’s moods and emotions. Boston Terriers are ancestors of the Bulldog, which gives them a squared off look and an overall impression of power and durability. They also have short snouts and pointed ears. Their coat is smooth and fine, and most have distinctive markings, most of which can make it look like the dog is wearing a tuxedo!
Boston Terriers get easily excited and enjoy barking, kissing their owners, and require lots of playtime to help burn off their endless energy. Boston Terriers are usually intelligent and very easily trained. Coupled with their compact size, this makes them ideal for owners who have smaller living spaces.
However, owners must be aware that there are a number of health problems that concern Boston Terriers, including allergies, heart problems, tumors, cataracts, and deafness. The breed is highly social, and if they are trained and socialized correctly, will get along well with people of all ages, and other animals. Eager to please, friendly, and enthusiastic, the Boston Terrier is an excellent companion for the whole family.
