my Marley has really bad separation anxiety. He won’t even eat unless I am near him. He follows me everywhere and cries if I am out of sight. I don’t want to put him on mediation but I am not sure what else to do. Any tips?
What is your routine like when you leave? What are you doing and what is Marley doing? Also, do you find that he destroys stuff while you are out or does he just seem down?
Leave him a article of clothing that you wore the day before.
Try to wear him out with plenty of exercise before heading out whenever possible.
Don’t make a big deal when you leave (no long good bye)…better to distract him with a Kong filled with treats or some other treat / toy to occupy him while you are leaving.
There are natural alternatives to medication (homeopathic, natural supplements for separation anxiety).
