Bichon dogs make for a great companion dog. Bichons love to cuddle, and they are very affectionate animals. They have a very soft, thick curly coat, which makes them quite puffy looking. They love to play in the water, and they have great endurance. They are great with other pets and children; you never have to worry about them biting anyone. Indeed, their sweet disposition makes it very hard to get mad at them if they do anything wrong!
Although bred mainly as a companion dog, they can be used as a guard dog in a pinch as they tend to bark at anything which it out of the ordinary. Their yaps will be more of a deterrent to a potential burglar than an expensive alarm system.
They are a very happy-go-lucky dog. Their body is long and they are not very tall, but they are very fit dogs and they have lots of energy. There are always ready to play, and love to run around. They are however very sensitive animals, and can get very nervous at times if they get upset. They love to bark a lot too, which can be trying at times, but other than that they make a great family dog that will always be by your side.
