Labrador Retrievers are one of the most popular dog breeds in the country. They’re known for their intelligence, devotion, and good-natured personality. Labrador Retrievers are amiable, easy-going, and eager to please. They are very obedient, and their intelligence makes them very good at following simple as well as complex commands. The Labrador Retriever lives well with other dogs, cats, children, and family members.
The breed is a medium-sized dog with a broad head, bright eyes, floppy ears, and strong jaws that are ideal for carrying a game. They have a long, coarse coat with a soft undercoat that is weatherproof and helps protect them when they go into the cold water to retrieve game.
Labrador Retrievers love to play and need plenty of regular physical as well as mental exercise, otherwise, they’re quick to become bored. In warm weather, they’re prone to shedding and should be brushed regularly.
For their first three years they will be buckets of energy – almost hyperactive – but then they will calm down somewhat. They don’t make good guard dogs, as they tend to be quite friendly with strangers. Be it a Black Lab, Chocolate Lab, or Yellow Lab you can’t go wrong with this happy, lovable breed.
