As far as medicines go, a friend of mine uses Tramadol on her dog and says it helps. Moderate exercise is good but make sure you don’t let your dog jump up or expend too much energy as that can actually make things worse. I’ve also heard swimming is great if you can.

I remember hearing Cesar Millan say you need to stay calm while telling your dog to stop barking but also you have to make sure you have your dog’s full attention and you get them to submit completely before you move on. For instance, he says you shouldn’t yell from across the room at your dog. Also when you do get your dog’s attention, don’t just get them to stop for a second and then go back to what they were doing. He says you can get the dog’s attention with a certain sound, a physical correction or some times even just a certain look.

I’ll be honest, it all sounds easier said than done but that is what the expert says. I wish you luck.

What is your routine like when you leave? What are you doing and what is Marley doing? Also, do you find that he destroys stuff while you are out or does he just seem down?

That happened to a friend of mine. They found the cat on their door step one day and when she would get in heat she would do the same thing with her butt until they brought her into to get fixed. Then about a month or two later she starts doing the same things like when she was in heat but they figured it couldn’t be that since they already brought her to the vet. They let it go on for another month and when she started doing that again they brought her to a different vet. At the time she was really upset because she thought the first vet had ripped her off and nobody told us what you said about oddly placed ovarian tissue. Luckily the trip to the second vet did the trick and no more loud meowing and moaning and butt in face.

My cat loves looking out the window. The only time there is a big reaction is if another cat comes by. I think the window is a cat’s version of watching tv, lol 🙂

Have you tried an Orbee ball? My uncle’s dog doesn’t play much and actually seems to dislike toys that make any types of noise but he loves that orbee.

I’ve heard that trainers of show dogs limit food before travel to reduce nausea so I would stick with that if it is working. Also, I’ve heard that it helps having the windows cracked, not all the way down. Someone once explained it to me in detail but I can’t remember everything exactly. I just know it had something to do with balancing air pressure or something. One other thing I’ve also heard is to feed your dog a tiny piece of sugar candy (nothing chocolate of course) but like a jelly bean because the sugar helps reduce nausea in dogs.

Is your cat always indoors or in and out? I have heard neighbors say their cats that go outside some times eat something weird and it takes them a little time to get their eating habits back to normal. Also, are you sticking to the same brand of food or constantly changing. Some cats are very picky. It’s also not unheard of for a cat who may have loved one brand for years to all of the sudden want something else.  I wouldn’t be worried if the phases where he is not eating are short and as long as he isn’t losing a lot of weight. If he stops eating for long periods then I would definitely make an appointment with your vet.

When I was younger my best friend had a dog that was terrified of thunder and other loud noises. 4th of July would be the worst. I remember they always had to bring him inside and calm him down at night. I guess dog’s ears are more sensitive.

Aw, I think rescuing animals from a shelter is the best. Bo sounds like a wonderful dog.
