What are you feeding your cats?  Are they  indoor or indoor / outdoor cats?

Agreed….based on your lifestyle and needs, there is a breed (or mixed breed) out there for you. The key is to do your research to find the best match for you.

There are local rescue groups for just about every breed; glad you are wanting to adopt!

Changing the route, “follow the leader” (adjust your speed, turn around quickly, etc to keep your dog focused on you) , etc.

There are some natural / homeopathic options to help reduce travel anxiety (Ark Naturals “Happy Traveler,” Richard’s Organics “Pet Calm” and Homeopet “Travel Anxiety”…and others)

Try to wear him out with plenty of exercise before heading out whenever possible.

When it is something more predictable (like 4th of July fireworks), I try to make sure my dogs are worn out during the day (play time, long walks, etc) and then give them something to keep them busy evening time (raw marrow bone, kongs filled with treats, etc)

Have you tried raw food with your cat?  Primal has some good options; Stella & Chewy’s also has freeze dried raw (which you can add warm water to as another alternative to canned)

There are a lot of options for raw feeding.  Some people prepare everything themselves; it’s important to do some research to learn about the proper mix of muscle meat, organs, etc (plenty of info on line).

Could be flea dirt…which means she could have (or recently had) fleas.  Are you using any type of flea prevention?  How often do you give her a bath?

There’s not one “best food” but there are certainly some top level foods.  It really depends on your dog’s specific needs.  A raw food diet is the best over all diet.

If you are looking for a kibble, Orijen, Acana, Fromm & Earthborn Holistic would be among those in the top level.

How is your dog’s weight?
