My dog is afraid of any loud noises. Thunder bothers her but definitely not as much as fireworks or gun shots. She was a complete wreck last fourth of July. 🙁  As long as she is close to me she seems to calm down easily though.

I don’t think you’re overreacting. If it’s too cold outside for you it’s probably too cold for your dog as well. Granted, some dogs have thick fur and are capable of staying warm outside but just because they can doesn’t mean they should. We built houses for a reason, to protect us from the elements. My dog really likes the Nutro Natural Choice brand. She had some digestive problems with the Purina One brand but since I switched her to the Natural Choice she’s been happy and healthy ever since. 🙂

I totally agree. I adopted the dog I have now from the Humane Society and she’s the best dog I’ve ever had. She’s incredibly obedient and has been very easy to train. My dog gets car sick too but I was able to reduce it by moving her to the front seat. She still drools a lot but she hardly ever vomits when she rides in the front seat. If you can avoid making sharp turns that should help too. If you’re going on a longer trip, your vet can prescribe pills that will help with motion sickness.

You could bring treats to give your dog every time she relieves herself, that might make her more excited to go on walks if she equates them with food and it also helps prevent her from going in the house. If your dog has a lot of energy, maybe try running with her so it’s more exciting and it will help her get rid of some energy.

I have a Rat Terrier and she’s about 2 years old. I think she might be mixed with Jack Russell but I’m not sure, the Humane Society had her listed as a Rat Terrier though.
